Part of
The course is focused on the patient with scoliosis. Students will learn the latest guidelines on the standards applicable to the treatment of the scoliosis patient according to The International Society on Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT).
From a thorough examination of the patient, to an analysis of the formation of spinal curvatures, including scoliosis, to the mechanisms of postural control - during the course the students learn about the therapeutic options individually tailored to each patient. Establishing an appropriate rehabilitation plan according to The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) guidelines is the basis of the correction process.
Appropriate selection of positions, techniques and pattern combinations (PNF concept), specific respiratory stimulation, training of disturbed gait phases (J. Perry), analysis of daily life activities - study/work positions, sports activities, creating a set of home exercises for each patient - are just some of the topics covered during the training.
An interesting addition will be a discussion of surgical techniques for scoliosis and guidelines for post-operative physiotherapy.
